Privacy Policy

Overview

CopyHotKey is a privacy-focused clipboard manager for Windows. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how the application works.

Data Collection

CopyHotKey does NOT collect any personal data, usage statistics, or telemetry.

The application operates entirely locally on your machine. No data is ever transmitted to external servers, analytics services, or third parties.

Local Data Storage

CopyHotKey stores the following data locally on your computer:

• Clipboard History: Saved to %LocalAppData%\CopyHotKey\history.json (optionally encrypted with DPAPI)
• Settings: Saved to %LocalAppData%\CopyHotKey\settings.json
• Logs: If enabled, saved to %LocalAppData%\CopyHotKey\logs\ (disabled by default)

All data remains on your local machine. You have full control over this data and can delete it at any time.

Encryption

CopyHotKey offers optional encryption for clipboard history using Windows Data Protection API (DPAPI). When enabled, your clipboard history is encrypted at rest using your Windows user account credentials.

Session-Only Mode

Session-only mode prevents clipboard history from being persisted to disk. When enabled, history is kept in memory only and is automatically cleared when the application exits.

Network Access

CopyHotKey has minimal network access:

• Update Checks: Periodically checks https://copyhotkey.com/latest.txt for new versions (optional, can be disabled)
• No Analytics: No usage tracking, crash reports, or telemetry
• No Cloud Sync: Your clipboard data never leaves your machine

Website Analytics

This website (copyhotkey.com) is a static site hosted on Cloudflare Pages. We do not use any analytics, tracking cookies, or third-party scripts. Cloudflare may collect basic access logs as part of their hosting service.

Transparency

CopyHotKey is committed to transparency in how it handles your data. All data processing happens locally on your machine, and you have complete control over your information at all times.

Third-Party Services

CopyHotKey does not integrate with or share data with any third-party services. The application operates entirely offline except for optional update checks.

Data Deletion

You can delete your data at any time:

• Clear History: Right-click tray icon → Clear History
• Delete All Data: Uninstall the app and manually delete %LocalAppData%\CopyHotKey
• Reset Settings: Delete %LocalAppData%\CopyHotKey\settings.json

Children's Privacy

CopyHotKey does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. The application does not require registration, account creation, or any personal information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of CopyHotKey after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
