Common Issues

Hotkeys not working

Check for conflicts with other applications. You can customize hotkeys in Settings → Hotkeys. If a conflict is detected, a fallback hotkey is automatically assigned.

History not saving

Make sure "Session Only" mode is disabled in Settings. Check that the app has write permissions to %LocalAppData%\CopyHotKey.

App crashes on startup

Ensure .NET 9 runtime is installed. Try deleting the settings file at %LocalAppData%\CopyHotKey\settings.json and restarting.

Images not capturing

CopyHotKey captures images in PNG format. If images aren't capturing, check that you're copying images (not just image files). For OCR support, enable it in Settings.

System Information

When reporting issues, please include:

  • CopyHotKey version (check in tray icon menu)
  • Windows version (Windows 10/11, build number)
  • .NET runtime version
  • Steps to reproduce the issue
  • Relevant log files from %LocalAppData%\CopyHotKey\logs
